When a family decided to relocate back to Munich they called upon the expertise of interior designer Nicky Dobree to help with the restoration of their 1920’s listed villa in Munich.
Nicky was lucky that many of the trades were the same teams that she had dealt with previously when designing the clients chalet in St Moritz, however she was not prepared for the stringent German rules and regulations of a listed building. Time, patience designing and re-designing were all part of the challenging process to achieve what is now a wonderful family home.
The villa was stripped back to its bare bones and a basement was dug. Cornices and mouldings restored and replicated, panelling inspired by the original was redesigned to work with the new layouts and the taller doors that ND had designed throughout to elevate each space and draw your eye up. Beautiful pieces of ironmongery were preserved and new moulds made. Every detail in the renovation of this property was considered to create a home fit for the modern day whilst still retaining its individuality, history and stories intact.
